Creality K2 Plus hepa and carbon filter box (2024-12-29 added VE2, added VE2_83x83))

Box for hepa filter and activated carbon pellets for the Creality K2

The K2 Plus already has a carbon filter installed, but it is only partially filled.
I also wanted to have a hepa filter on the housing and came up with this design. Because the printer in my setup is positioned with the rear facing a wall, access is somewhat difficult. I therefore designed the filter box for use inside the housing. The box replaces the original filter and grill.
The middle part can be filled with activated carbon pellets, a hepa filter is clamped into the front part. The front part is fitted with M3x6 mm screws to the threaded heat set inserts.

I used hepa filters from Amaz*, which you can buy as a replacement for various Robot Vacuum Cleaners. I have cut filters to size for the larger version, the smaller version uses two filters with dimensions of 40x80x15 mm (as used in the famous Bento Box).

- no heat set inserts required (m3 countersunk screw max. 8mm length)
- lid on the back easier to mount (see my make I posted)
- added the option to snap on a front lid (a thin foam can be inserted too)

- after feedback from a maker I adjusted the front for the Bento Box compatible filters to 83x83mm

the tolerances have been slightly revised, so the parts of version VE1 are not compatible with parts of version VE2 !

ps: it is best not to print the parts in bright colour, but in black. I have noticed that otherwise the AI (foreign object detection) could incorrectly identify the parts as foreign objects and pauses the print.

print settings:
printed in ASA with K2 plus , 0.4 nozzle , standard ASA profile , 0.2 mm layer height, 15% infill
print orientation like shown in the slicer picture !
only the two notches on the middle part need support
the clip should be printed very slowly
the pattern of the grill is not very print friendly, but I like the hexagonal look

included STEP files to easy modify
it is up to you to change the pattern or design an adapter for other filters
