With the original mount of the Comgrow 10W diode laser, if you had a tall workpiece you had to completely unscrew the thumbscrews and move them to the threaded holes on the other side of the mounting plate. I also didn't like having to mess with four screws on either side to get my height right.
So I designed a dovetail mount that clamps using one thumbscrew only. Depending on how high or low you need to move your laser you will need to use the top or bottom clamp. The design uses springs to ensure the clamp inserts return to the “open” position when the thumbscrew is retracted.
Hardware required:
Assembly is pretty straightforward. Slide the clamp into the slot, then the spring so it sits in the channel. Then insert the nut and then thread in the screw. Screw the two sides of the mount onto the laser and gantry and then you're good to slide the laser on and clamp it down. The fit should be loose enough to slide freely until clamped down.
