The Seeed Studio T1000-E is an incredible device. Compact with fantastic range and built in GPS and other sensors.

But it can be so much more when travelling. Here is an aerodynamic magnet case to securely affix your T1000-E to the roof of any vehicle made with steel. There is even a slot to install the Seeed Studio included charging cable to power your node on the go.

The 42mm Magnet has been tested up to 160 Km/h or 100 Miles/h. It will not go anywhere, rest assured.

T1000-E neatly drops in to the slot and will magnet itself to charging cable if present. Slide the lid on and you are good to go. Print In Place buttons on the bottom give the T1000-E the extra push it needs to eject past the magnets when the charging cable is installed. To remove node take off the lid, turn upside down and press the release button. The T1000-E will come sliding out with a little flick of the wrist. Be careful not to drop it.

PLEASE NOTE ONLY USE SEEED PROVIDED CHARGING CABLES. Charging cables from Amazon, etc. may not have the magnets the right way around or the right pinout. This can result in your node being repelled from the charger rather than attracted or cause damage to the electronics.

Non printed components:

  • 1x 42mm M6 Threaded Magnet
  • 1x M6 10mm stud
  • 1x M6 Nut

Printing Instructions:

  • Install a support blocker between the bed and the ceiling of the M6 Nut chamber. You dont want to be removing support material mid print.
  • Pause the print at 12.6mm or layer 93 if using 0.2mm. If using another layer height check your slicer for the last layer before the hex nut chamber is covered up. Set your pause for that layer.
  • 3 perimeters, supports needed (sorry)
  • Whatever infill you want. I did classic Rectilinear, Lightning, Cubic, and Support Cubic when printing test units. None made a difference on observed range.

The charging cable friction fits into place. Install the cable plug to secure the bottom of the cable and route out the slot.
