Motivation

  • webcams often sit on top of monitors
  • thin bezel monitors aren't good for this because the webcam mount obscures the screen
  • even when they do sit, it can be difficult to adjust their angle & position & maintain this over time because monitors can be shaped organically

Design

  • I've used 1 mm thin walls in single bolt clamps to great effect in many of my designs
    • there are a few published on Printables now, but I think they don't need to be 2 part clamps – such clamps are overkill & cumbersome to install
  • I didn't anticipate doing so, but I ended up flipping the webcam hinges 180 deg & installing the mount above the webcam instead in 2 instances to place the webcam even further away from the pole

Ingredients

  • your webcam must accept a ¼"-20 screw
    • ~6.3 mm deep
  • pole OD ~35.18 mm

Hardware required

  • qty 1 M3 x 14+ mm CSKS
    • 2 mm hex drive in my case
  • qty 1 ¼"-20 x ¾" CSK, 82 deg
  • qty 1 M3 thin square nut

Revision history

R1

fit for Depstech webcam, this one, I think.

R2

  • fit for Logitech C920 webcam, which required +10 mm radial distance from the center of the pole
  • improved fit of square nut, which used to be a little tight

Printing

  • see files for orientation & settings
  • printed in PETG, no supports
