I purchased a real street sign from NYC DOT. I wanted a way to mount it where the mount itself was as hidden as possible, including the screws used to hold the mount. I found a few options online but none were exactly what I needed, so I designed these.
These will hold signs that are ~7mm thick or less.
There are two variations and two ways they can be used:
holder-bottom can be used on its own if you only need to secure your sign from the bottom, or if you can slide your sign in from the side after attaching the mounts to the wall.
holder-top should be used if you want your sign held from the top as well and you need adjustability. This is what I did for mine because I couldn't slide the sign in from the side. This version of the holder has a slide so it can slide up and down. Install it so in the “down” position it's where you need it to be, but leave the screw just loose enough so you can slide it up. Insert the sign and then slide the clip down again. Doing it this way also provides you some tolerance so you don't have to get the clips mounted in exactly the right place.
These are designed way stronger than they need to be but I have mine mounted high on the wall and I didn't want to risk anything. I printed mine with 5 wall loops and 30% infill just to be safe but again, I know that's overkill.
No supports needed. I recommend using a washer with your screw to spread the load on the print and prevent it from splitting.
If you need a version for a sign >7mm thick, feel free to let me know.
