The Tascame Portacapture X8 isn't shiped with any form of casing in the box and I wanted one which can hold all the naseserry equipment for it. So I put an inlay in one of Whity's Rugged Boxes for the Portacapture X8 itself along with compartments for a Shock Mount by Rycote, space for a set of spare batteries and six cabinets for other things such as cables, adapters, dead cat,… five of them with clippy lids in the lid and a deeper one in the main body.
I put a sheet of 2mm foam on the bottom of the main compartments for the Portacapture and a piece of 5mm sticky foam on the lid so the recorder doesn't rattle around in the box.
The seal is optional. I printed mine with TPU
6x M3x25 screws are needed for the laches and the hinges
I put a drawing of the inlay as a PDF file up, so you can test the fit with your gear before printing and you can use it to cut out the foam inlay if you want.
For anyone who wants to test the clippy mechanism on the lids, I put a model with just the frame for the lids, so you can test it befor the 20+h print.
The author remixed this model.
I adjusted the parameters to suit the needs and put the Inlay in it
