This is a streamlined observation car, inspired by the stainless steel cars used in mid-20th century passenger trains like the Chief.
Scale and Size: While the original full-length cars measured around 80 feet, this model has been scaled down to approximately 65 feet. By scaling it down, it prints in one piece diagonally on a 256mm x 256mm print bed and can handle a reasonable turn radius. The minimum turn radius for this car on Dragon tracks is 400mm.
Hardware: To assemble this model, you will need 10 M2x6mm screws.
Printing Options: To provide flexibility, both a one-piece body model and separated roof and body files are included. Printing the car with the roof attached requires substantial support material, so using the separate components can simplify the process and reduce waste. The roof can be easily glued to the body post-print. Supports are recommended on the tops of the window openings and are required on the underside of the roof and trucks.
Drumheads: The details on the drumhead are too small to print, so I've included one with a plain version of the Santa Fe cross, and another that is blank for hand painting or water slide decals.
Trucks: The model includes three types of trucks: one for the rear end without a coupler mount, and two options for the front end, one designed to screw-mount the couplers, another to glue them on. The couplers used in this model can be found here: AutoCoupler for Dragon Railway. For axles use a piece of 1.75mm filament. For the best results, straighten the filament before use.
