Introduction:
This is the LK100, the 300x300mm version of the popular THE 100 printer by Matt the Printing nerd. I take no credit in the mechanical design of the gantry or Z-axis, as this was either altered from the original 1.1 printer, or THE 100 ETZ, which I can't seem to find any references to anymore. The printer uses Belt-driven Tri-Z, and the (albeit imperfect) printer.cfg is attached for anyone who wants to try this. I used a Longer LK5 as the donor printer for this, but I'm relatively sure that a CR10 would work too, with some modifications to the electronics tray.

Print Settings:

I recommend all the same settings as Matt does on his Printables page, listed here:

  • 0.25 Layer height
  • 0.5 Line width
  • 3 Top layers
  • 3 Bottom layers
  • 3 Walls
  • 25% Infill
  • Grid Infill Pattern

Notably, the print bed has spaces on the bottom for printed weights to balance the bed, although with the Tri-Z this shouldn't be necessary, and the print bed can be printed at the same settings as the rest of the printer.

Parts and Materials:

I've made a BOM, which should list all the parts you should need. The frame should take about 7kg of filament, and I recommend PETG for it's durability and higher temperature resistance compared to PLA. I used ELEGOO PETG for this project, and it worked well (you may need to dry it though).

There are some optional parts, like a screen (any 4.3" WS screen should do).

Guide:

I may write instructions if this mod is used often enough, but for the most part, you can use the CAD model for the frame, and Matt's guide for the belts and motion, and you should be OK. Notably, the Tri-Z belt is spliced using this technique on Reddit, and if you aren't super confident in it, definitely buy more than just 6M of belts. (Pro tip, use a Dremel or similar rotary tool to sand the belt, it makes it so much faster)

(Note: this model is under development still, and some things are still messed up about it.)
