Rapperwsil Castle

• Built in 1220-1230 by Bailiff Rudolf von Rapperswil.
• In 1336, the Constables, who had been expelled from Zurich after an attempted coup, took refuge in the castle. They then planned to overthrow the old regime in Zurich.
• In 1350, Brun and his troops marched on Rapperswil in revenge for the failed attempt to overthrow Zurich and burned down the castle and the town. :O
• Duke Albrecht of Austria rebuilt the town and the castle.
• In 1442, the castle became the property of the town of Rapperswil.
