BoxLock - One Twist To Close Cardboard Boxes 

 

Meet the BoxLock! 
The BoxLock allows you to close any cardboard box with ease, just twist and it's locked!

Are you using cardboard boxes for storage? always running around looking for your utility knife or scissors to cut open the packaging tape? NO MORE! 
with The BoxLock all you need is to twist and the box is locked!

The BoxLock is designed to keep the box close, and the box will fall apart before The BoxLock will. don't believe me? try to put stuff inside a cardboard box, and you can lift it from The BoxLock. (the box will get damaged before The BoxLock).

The BoxLock is designed to be printed without any support. The BoxLock is printed in 2 parts and uses a twist and lock mechanism I designed.
The mechanism has 0 freedom or any movement after the connection is made. it took me a lot of iteration and many tried to perfect that mechanical mechanism. (and I'm proud of it). Check assembly instructions for more information.

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA for indoor use, PETG or above for outdoor/hot environments 
  • Nozzle Size: 0.4mm
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Vertical Walls: 2-3
  • Infill: 15%
  • Supports: None

Assembly Instructions:

 

  1. Take the two parts and align the arrow and the green dot from the top part with the closest notch. ( as shown in the GIF below). Then all you have to do is twist and lock it.
  1. For a permanent connection, I recommend adding a drop of CA glue, before locking the mechanism, which will insure the 2 parts will never come out again. (as shown in the picture below).
