WARNING: This is capable of very high FPS and doing a lot of damage, and should not be treated as a toy. This is designed for plinking, and not for shooting at people. I have deliberately left out instructions, because if you're capable of building this you should also be capable of understanding the dangers of a singled drain blaster. By downloading this you agree to assume all risk of injury, damage, or harm caused by the blaster.

An evolution over the Crater, the Bolide aims to improve precision by strengthening and stiffening all parts. The changes include:

  • Swapping of PVC outer barrel which flexed during fire and sagged with iron pipe
  • Threaded attachment of barrel to chassis as well as muzzle attachments
  • Rounding of mating corners so surfaces attach more completely with the angle iron
  • Alternating of screws along chassis for better distribution
  • Reinforced barrel holders to account for extra weight of barrel
  • Reinforcement of stock mount
  • New trigger to remove dead zone
  • Optional 2 degree Picatinny rail mounted to chassis for optics
  • Integrated bolt storage under breech for storage when disassembled for transport

Bolide is a simple but effective single shot rifle designed to be reliable and cheap to manufacture. Including the drain blaster, all the hardware can be found for under $30, and the build is skeletonized to reduce the amount of plastic necessary. The blaster is loaded via a sliding breech, and is charged by priming the drain blaster handle. It has been set up as a half length blaster, but conversion to use full length darts is very simple by using a longer piece of tubing for the breech.

A standard Nerf stock mount allows the attachment of most Nerf stocks, simplifying the printing process and allowing for aftermarket options. It comes with an optional Arca plate and Picatinny rail if you would like to mount a bipod or tripod. The muzzle exit is a standard 17/32" brass barrel, so many aftermarket muzzle devices can be attached on or easily modified to fit. I have included a basic device to function as an orange tip.
