I have designed these caps for battery-operated LED string lights in multiple shapes to create a festive and cozy atmosphere during the holiday season. Perfect for adding a unique touch to your decorations.
The LEDs have a thin rubber-like coating and a outer diameter of roughly 5.3mm, so I chose to make the bore the same diameter. Due to the tolerances of the printer and the slightly squishy coating of the LEDs it is a snug fit so no glue is needed.
I printed them with translucent (not transparent) white PETG.
Happy Printing & Merry Christmas! 🎄
P.S. There is also a Halloween version: Cute Ghost Caps for LED String Lights :)
If your LEDs have a different diameter, for example 6.2mm, you can resize the model in the slicer using the following calculation:
6.2mm (your measurement) - 5.3mm (bore of the model) = 0.9mm (difference)
0.9mm / 5.3mm * 100 = 16.98%
Result: Scale the model to 116.98% and you'll get a 6.2mm bore
I would recommend to print only one cap at first to ensure that the LEDs fit.
Alternatively, you can make the bore a little larger and fix the LEDs in place with a drop of hot glue.
