I thought of making the first layer test of the print bed fun, avoiding material waste and turning it into a playful object. So, why not print a sheet with guidelines for folding it into an airplane? The plastic makes the airplane more durable, allowing you to choose different colors and resize it as you like. After various tests, I found the right fold measurements to ensure the success of the origami, despite the different layers that will form.

I have created several STL files for many printers. Go and download the one with the dimensions of your printer, and if a size is missing, don't worry, just let me know and I will add it to the catalog.

Follow these simple steps to get the best possible result:

  • I recommend using a new filament or one that is well-dried.
  • I suggest using PETG for its flexible characteristic, which prevents the sheet from breaking during the construction of the origami.
  • After printing, I recommend leaving the sheet on the bed and waiting for it to cool down and detach on its own to avoid having a warped sheet.
  • Follow the order of the folds.
  • Have fun and share your result.

I hope you like my idea. Happy testing and have fun!
