Description

PDF

This model avoids an additional bend in the PTFE tube when a spool is placed higher than the filament buffer. It is a remix of the MMU3 printable parts \ Spool holder \ PTFE holder -> injection molded R4 version.

Some spools are less wide causing the PTFE holder to not fit between the two spool holders. This model addresses this: it can be placed next to the spool holders with the position of the hole still in the middle of the spool.

Both models for left and right handed sides are provided for convenience.

Remarks

The new location of the hole increases the length and width of the part. This causes an increase in flexibility which is good when:

  • filament is pulled into the tube and friction causes strain on the PTFE holder,
  • the PTFE holder is pulled down a bit because the PTFE tube is just too short.

For these cases the model is best printed in PETG because it is more flexible than PLA.

Also, a rotating spool can no longer scrape against the wall when misplaced.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Changed the location and rotation of the hole in the PTFE holder for a spool less wide (typically less than 1 Kg).

The filament needs to be loaded from above.
