A cleated rope cinch designed for 3/8" braided rope that can be used as an aid in lifting or securing loads or as a an alternative to ratchet straps for tie-downs.

Basic assembly requires four (4) 3/8"x1" bolts and accompany hex nuts and a length of quality 3/8" braided rope (such as yacht braid or arborist rope - also works with 9.5 static line). Additionally you will want a locking clasp, S-hook or similar (with a thickness of 3/8" or less) to attach to the top portion of the cinch to hang or secure the load (550 cord or similar can be fed through the loop and used as a field expedient measure).  You will also need an appropriate hook, fastener or knot on the trailing end of the rope depending on usage.

Place 3/8" braided rope along the tube shaped channel and knot the leading edge of the rope (to keep it from sliding back through). Place clasp or hook in groove on top of cinch. With line and hook in place, assemble cinch halves with four (4) 3/8x1" bolts.

To use, attach load to the trailing side of the rope. To lift load or add tension, pull on leading (knotted) end of rope. To lock rope in place, pull into channel containing cleats. To release grip, pull rope out and away from cleats.

Pulleys can be slung from the bottom of the cinch to assist in lifting jobs.
