inspired by this model , since i don't have a multicolor printer, i decided to make one by myself
i modeled all the pieces from scratch so i could have submitted this as original model, but since i got the idea from the other i preferred to mark it as remix instead

the cube is made to fit the Aqara Magic Cube with enough tolerance to not force it inside (so no risk of damaging or ruining it)

it consist of the following parts:

  • 1x Main Body
  • 1x Closing Face
  • 6x Face Circles
  • 8x Corners
  • 12x Edges

i provided all the stls for the single istances, just replicate them as much as you need

the closing face fits well and should stay firm but i suggest, until you need it for the other parts, to add a bit of glue to make it sure

i applied cyanoacrylate glue with some thin doublesided tape for most of the pieces to attach them to the main body, but i guess hot glue or thick glue (like bicomponent) should work better

printing the single pieces helps printing it with a monocolor printer, but makes the model way more fragile XD

there are two versions of edges and corners: i made a thin one and a thick one, that's because the thick version (big corner and big edge stl) is more accurate to the original cube, but the thinner one is way better for sliding it on surfaces, just print the one fits you better!

if your slicer messes up with the proportions, here are the scales for all the parts (mm):

  • main body: 49x49x48
  • closing face: 47x47x2.3
  • face circles: 26x26x2.5
  • corners: 16.5x16.5x16.5
  • edges: 6.8x6.8x12
  • big corners: 21x21x21
  • big edges: 9.1x9.1x12

i suggest to print them on the plate in the same orientation of the sample pic

supports not needed

brim not needed

i recommend raft for the edges if your bed adehesion is not perfect

thinner layer for best results (i printed it in 0.12)

100% infill (until it's so thin it doesn't make much difference, but for corners and circles it does)

ps: each side of the aqara cube is made for trigger different scenarios when showed up, so it needs to distinguish them somehow… the other model has different faces printable on your will, i preferred to make them flat and all the same so you can write on them or put some stickers on!

pro tip: if you scale this model enough you can make it look as a prop of the original portal cube, or make it a fancy storage box :D (you can glue 4 corners and 4 edges to the closing face and use it as the top lid)

edit: added big corner and big edge stls

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

my cube is one solid piece with only one side as closing face, it's full printable with a single color printer and, if scaled up enough, it can be used as a prop or a storage box
