When I saw this competition, I thought to myself, “Dang, this competition looks super fun!” I started with a couple of AI-generated photos to get a base idea of what I wanted to make. They looked really cool, but they weren't exactly what I wanted. I ended up scrapping the images and started messing around with the tools in Fusion until I got a shape I liked. Next came the moving part—that bolt-looking thing in the middle of the trophy. I wanted the trophy to be kind of like a toy, and I accomplished this by making it so that when you turn over the trophy, the bolt will spin and fall downwards. The metal part was probably the trickiest part. I had no idea what to do with it. At first, I wanted to make it a stand for the toy part of the trophy, but that didn’t look good, and I felt like it wasn’t reliable enough. Then I tried to make a cool-looking sphere to sit on top of the bolt part, and honestly, spheres are the worst to design with, so that idea kind of failed. So, I did the next best thing—added random sketches and lofts until I got a weird but cool-looking shape. Then, I refined it to a more uniform look and made sure it fit with the rest of the model. This strategy kind of worked, and I'm pleased with the result. The sheet that I made is kind of horrible (sorry, guys). I mostly just wanted to use it to show that I had followed the rules of the competition, so please don't judge me for that. The main part of the trophy, surrounding the moving part and the metal part, looks almost infinite, and it represents that additive manufacturing will go on forever and never end. The moving bolt represents that the things additive manufacturing makes are strong and functional. Finally, the metal part of the trophy is small and detailed, which mostly represents that additive manufacturing can make beautiful art and will be able to change the course of engineering principles. The name Excalautus Barture was just a cool name I made up, combining Excalibur, lattice, bargain, and structure (this isn't updated in the sheet). Thanks so much for looking at this trophy and reading to the end of this crazy paragraph. HAPPY PRINTING!
