I just started making my own models so it is not perfect. I see this as my V1 xD, maybe I'll update this so there are only connectors and no cables coming out of the box.
There are holes for a power connector and a XH-3A connector that can be glued in place and some holes for cables.
The lid can be screwed with M3 screws, the box has holes for M3 heat sinks.
On the pictures you can see my ambilight box. Please pay no attention to the tangled cables xD
I use a 12V 6A power supply.
The power is turned on when the TV is on. I realized this with a 5V relay connected to the TV via USB.
For the lights I use 12V WS2815 leds that I had lying around.
I also use a Raspberry Pi2b with Hyperion to control the lights, to power this I use a step down from 12V to 5V.
The step down also powers a level shifter so the data input is 5V before it goes to the LEDs.
It was a really fun project and it looks amazing.
