I saw this and thought it was a clever idea. I reverse engineered it and customized the mechanics of the design.

The notebook in the images I made for my self. It was a multi-body part and is not available. The slots look nice…but were not good for writing! So I removed them. The model available for download is blank, like the reference model. Use any 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, fold in half and slip into rubber band along spine. Enjoy!

3D Printable Notebook Considerations:

  1. Snap fit design with rubber bands
  2. Print two covers.
  3. Print four hinges. Pay attention in the slicer, the hinge is geometric and has a flat side for printability. Yes it works still.
  4. Print one spine.
  5. Attach hinges to spine first.
  6. Snap hinge to cover first but simultaneously press in the snap fit portion. Get it, it all snaps together like the original creator but ya kinda gotta place the hinge before the spine. There is draft on the hinge wall.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Reverse engineering project. Rebuilt a model in similar likeness and then modified the design of the spine and the hinge aparatus. Retained original design aesthetics as much as possible, modified the mechanics trying a unique approach. Very clever idea by the original creator!
