FT EMS Doom Cube 300

Welcome to FizzysTech Electronics Management System designed for the Voron Doom Cube 300mm build.

INTRODUCTION

This is FT EMS specifically designed for the Voron Doom Cube (YES the 2nd request!). With this printer the electronics are intended to be mounted at the top of the printer above the top panel. This will make the electronics easily accessible for those tinkers who like to tweak their printers.

THE DESIGN

This design was extended from the V0.2 and Switchwire Electronics Management solutions I previously created. This will make the electronics easily accessible for those tinkers who like to tweak their printers. The components are designed and mounted on hex stand-offs and can be moved to wherever your heart desires.

Thanks for community feedback we have some variants of the EMS frame to include cutouts for the front mounted LCD, Rear and for those further customising to add side fans. You can mix and match the 4 panels to fit your needs (e.g. if you mount a Front LCD and only mount fans on the right then you will need the standard 1of4 with the modified 2of4, 3of4 and 4of4 from the other folders).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

EMS is designed to be extremely flexible as to let the user decide what hardware to use on the printer. Therefore we have created a mounts repository where power supply, controller board, expansion board and single board computers (Raspberry Pi) mounts are stored. Please visit our mounts repository to download universal cable ducts and mounts for the hardware you intend to install - https://www.printables.com/model/558357-ft-ems-mounts-repository

Which hex mounts do I need? Here is a breakdown of what each are used for: -

  1. Mount A = hole directly in the center of the hex and the screw is inserted from the mount side
  2. Mount B = hole is with a 5mm offset and the screw is inserted from the mount side. Depending on which direction you need the offset you can rotate the hex so its actually 5mm offset in 6 directions!
  3. Mount C = Cable tie in the center of the hex in the vertical orientation
  4. Mount D = Cable tie in the center of the hex in the horizontal orientation
  5. Mount E = These are used for electronic mounts that have a heat insert in them. The screw will go through the center of the hex from behind into the mount. These are typically used for SSR and some PSU mounts.
  6. Mount F = These are used for electronic mounts that have a heat insert in them. The screw will go through the center of the hex from behind into the mount. These are typically used for SSR and some PSU mounts.
  7. EMS Bolt = this is used for awkward mounts and load into the channel on the electronics mount with an M3 heat thread insert preloaded. These work in combination of Mount E and F.

We recommend printing the whole set of parts and test fit them outside of the printer prior to installation. This will serve as a double check to ensure that all the correct parts are printed and prepared.

  1. Prepare all of the mounts for parts and insert the heat-sets where needed.
  2. Assemble the entire EMS frame along with the electronic components outside of the frame prior to installation
  3. Use the correct mount and the hex (Mount A) or if you require a 5mm offset then use hex (Mount B)
  4. When installing the fame use the Hex Standoffs that are used to hold the frame away from the top panel. Use as many as you feel are needed to ensure that the electronics sit sturdy within the EMS frame.
  5. An optional EMS Bone Bracket can be used to join the 4 frame pieces together. These are downloadable from the EMS Repository linked above.
  6. Should you have any questions you can reach out to us via Discord - https://discord.gg/fizzystech

Hope that you appreciate the amount of time and effort to turn around such a big modification. If you like my designs and would like to contribute to fund filaments and other equipment required for prototyping, please do so at my paypal.me or Ko-fi. Your support is greatly appreciated :)

Do let me know what other boards you intend to mount.
