Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on converting my Artillery Hornet to a direct drive setup for ages. However, I didn’t want to invest in an expensive extruder system, so I searched high and low for a budget-friendly solution. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything that worked out of the box—so I decided to make my own!

This adapter is inspired by the Titan mounts made for the Ender 3, but they didn’t quite fit due to the differences in the mounting plates. After a lot of trial and error, I finally designed one that works perfectly using a pancake motor and a Titan extruder.

Important Notes:

  • One Drawback: When you need to replace hotend parts or perform maintenance, you’ll have to disassemble the V-slot wheels that hold the hotend. It’s not the most user-friendly, but it gets the job done.
  • Custom Cable Required: You’ll need to make a custom cable. I soldered a cable from Aliexpress to connect the extruder to the mainboard. It’s not the most elegant solution, but it works! Unfortunately, I don’t have detailed instructions for this because it was done a while ago. However, my advice is to test for continuity between the two boards before taking apart the old cable. Map out the connections carefully so you can solder everything back correctly.
