Camera adapter for selfie stick

I bought a long selfie stick/ tripod device several months ago and I've used it to hold my phone while recording some video for my last 3 YouTube creations.

Normally when making a video I prefer to use my video camera but the tripod I have only extends to about 36 inches. The selfie stick I have extends to 67 inches and also has foldout legs, which makes it more appropriate for some of the videos I wanted to take. The only problem is that it is primarily a selfie stick and only designed to hold a mobile phone. A search on the normal model web sites didn't find anything that would allow me to us it as a tripod with a normal camera.

Hence this adapter. It is shaped so that its body is the width of a typical mobile phone and it has a tripod screw on it so that a compact camera or small video camera like mine can be fitted on to it.

The adapter is made up of three parts, the body which I printed in ASA simply because I was running low on black PLA, a pad printed in TPU to sit between the body part and the camera to prevent any damage and provide some grip and a tripod screw. I'm sure that any Metal camera thumb screw ¼ inch male would do.

The TPU pad needs to be printed with about 25% infill otherwise it will be too soft.

There are some locater pegs on the pad part to fit into the corresponding holes in the body. The thumb screw fits through the center hole and the TPU pad holds it in place. 

I haven't used it to record a video yet but I've used it a lot with my compact camera to take shots of builds in progress. It shakes a bit when pushing the shutter button but using the self timer combats that.

There also seem to be a lot of things with a ¼ inch screw, from cameras to lights to microphones, so it is turning out to be more useful than I thought initially. Large cameras and projectors would be too heavy for the selfie stick/tripod I have, so I wouldn't recommend this for those, but if you have something light with a ¼ inch screw mount on it, then this may be for you.
