Design Updates:
- Added now “Case insert” file with New Hex holes instead of round holes. This substantially improves fit and printability. (12/21/24)
- Added case model without the built in supports to allow more printing flexibility. (12/12/24)
- Added new "Case insert" file with hole sizes increased from 0.24 to 0.25 for those who are having fit/tolerance issues. (12/1/24)
Design Details:
- Capacity: Holds up to 200 rounds of .22 LR
- Modular design: Allows changing out the insert to fit other types of .22 ammunition without reprinting the entire case.
- Support-Free Printing: The model is designed to print without additional supports. Any required support is already built into the CAD file.
- Magnetic Lid Retention: The lid is designed to be held in place with four 2x8mm magnets that are added post-print.
- Round Projection: The lid can be removed and inserted into the base, which lifts the rounds for easier access. (https://imgur.com/a/F42wNV5)
My Print Settings:
- Nozzle Size: 0.4 mm
- Layer Height: 0.16 mm (Printing at 0.2 and above
- Material: Matte PLA
Extra Notes
- Printing at layer heights 0.2 and above will cause the supports built into the case model to fail to generate in the slicer properly and they will fuse to the part.
- The fit tolerance for the .22 holes is low due to space constraints so depending on your printer and settings some post processing cleanout may be needed to deal with any elephants foot effects around the holes.
If you feel the design and print are the best thing since sliced bread, a “buymeacoffee” donation would be an appreciated gesture but not expected. I also accept hardy pats on the back, fist bumps, comments like “this is totally rad” and all other forms of positive affirmation. You can contribute via the link here if you’re so inclined. https://buymeacoffee.com/overton_prints
