This phone dock is inspired by the work of Scott Yu-Jan, which itself drew inspiration from Dieter Rams’ iconic DN40 digital clock.

It is designed to use an IKEA wireless charger. Be aware that IKEA sells two similar wireless chargers, LIVBOJ and NORDMÄRKE. While they have the same diameter, they differ in thickness. If you’re using the NORDMÄRKE charger, you’ll need to remove its rubber feet to ensure a proper fit.

Right now there are files for Pixel 7A (with a case) and Pixel 8 Pro.

Thoughts on printing

  • The body will require supports regardless of its orientation.
  • I had trouble achieving a good PETG print without warping, so I recommend using PLA for better results.
  • Print settings: 0.2mm layer height and 15% adaptive cubic infill worked well for me.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Route the charger cable through the hole at the back of the dock, and then feed it through the slot at the bottom.
  2. Connect the cable to the wireless charger and insert the charger into the inlet (refer to the pictures for clarity).
  3. Slide the inlet into the dock's slot.
  4. Finally, insert the button into the slot at the top.
