I couldn't find a funnel for my 1zpresso X Pro S grinder so I made this one. It should fit any X Series grinder, as they all have the same basic cylinder body.
The funnel should be a slight interference fit on the inner diameter of the adjustment ring. I can flip my grinder upside down (without beans of course) with the funnel in and it stays put.
There are two versions of this funnel. One is a standard short funnel, the other is much taller. I also added a variation of these same two funnels with a larger opening if you prefer.
The taller funnel doubles as a high capacity hopper if you use an electric drill with a drill bit extension. The hex on these (and pretty much all coffee hand grinders) is a standard ΒΌ" hex that will fit in an electric drill chuck. I use an Amazon Basics electric screwdriver on the highest setting and it has more than enough torque.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're going to use an electric screwdriver/drill, make sure the drill or drill bit attachment is clean. I had a spare drill bit holder that I now use exclusively for this and I had to thoroughly wash machine oil off the bit holder with dish soap and then rinse in rubbing alcohol.
Use a bit holder extension with a plain steel smooth finish so it's easier to keep clean. These will be some shade of chrome, grey, or silver like the one shown below.
The type you DON'T want (shown below) are the ones with the flat black oxide finish, since the metal is coated in a matte anti corrosion coating that holds onto oils and doesn't clean as easily.
I generally grind a 30-35 gram dose of coffee at a time for pourover and the X Pro S will only fit about 25 grams with the hand crank cap on. With the tall funnel I could probably fit 80 grams without issue but the catch cup is already at full capacity with 35 grams.
The tall funnel also helps keep beans from flying out while power grinding.
I also included a third file that serves as a standard sized cap for the grinder but also has a hole in the center that will fit most drill bit holders.
I switch between espresso and pourover so the larger capacity funnel was intended for my pourovers. My espresso doses are max 18 grams, which easily fits inside the grinder but I wanted a cap that was more similar to the stock one with room to fit a drill instead of being integrated with the hand crank handle.
Food Safety Note:
Since this is technically something that's coming in contact with food, I feel obligated to give the disclaimer that generally speaking, 3D printed products aren't food safe and can't be kept food safe, at least if we're talking about the typical consumer grade machines and materials most of us are working with. Even if the filament is perfectly clean and the printer is operating in a sterile room, printed parts have layer lines and stuff can hide in those nooks and crannies.
Realistically though, that shouldn't really be an issue for this application since the only thing these parts should ever see momentarily are dry (albeit potentially oily) whole coffee beans. Not that we're not already drowning in microplastics from everything else anyways but it's just some food for thought.
Print Settings:
I normally print at 0.3mm layer height on my 0.4mm nozzle but I dropped it down to 0.12mm layer height for smoother walls. The funnels are all walls so infill doesn't matter. The drill cap is just a simple 2 walls with 15% adaptive cubic infill. Material also doesn't matter but as usual I printed in Polymaker PETG.
The funnel variations with the larger openings may print better flipped upside down depending on how well your printer does overhangs.
