I loved the original design and wanted to take a stab and making my own with a latch mechanism. Added some fun tweaks.
STL files can be broken into discrete parts for multi-color prints. Or you can do as I did and just add color changes at selected layer positions for fun.
I printed at 0.20 mm quality with 15% infill, default settings on MK3S+/MK4S? and it came out pretty good IMHO!
Short Filament segments can be used as hinge pins as with original model. I generally found that printing each part (upper / lower) separately produced better hinge holes rather than trying to print both parts at the same time. I also found that I needed to sometimes clear out the hinge holes with a small hex-wrench or wire to get the 1.75mm filament to fit well.
I tried both ABS and PLA. Generally the hinge pin holes worked well for me. Sometimes it was a bit tight, others it was slightly loose.
I provided two sizes a ‘small’ and ‘large’.

The author remixed this model.
Newly designed model with latching mechanism!
