This camera stand has a base that fits underneath the front right corner of the XL. The printer's front right rubber foot goes through the hole in the stand base. The model is too tall to be printed on the printer so the gcode file has it sliced in half with pegs on the bottom half and corresponding holes in the top half. Also note, both halves have support material to be removed after printing, comes off easily. STRONGLY RECOMMEND glueing the two halves before use.

I use it with an old iPhone 7, which I made a bracket for. The camera vantage point is well centered and captures most of the XY print plane at close to eye level, so you can always see what the extruder is up to.

Yes, a camera mount that fits over the side supports would be smaller and easier to do, but note that cameras mounted to the frame pick up vibration/shaking giving blurry pics. This design decouples the camera from printer vibration so images are clear. It is easy to install/remove and requires no hardware. It is also unobtrusive and does not block access to any part of the printer. The top of the stand is angled away from the print area, and never bumps into the extruder or bed.

The top of the stand is a universal mount used in many other camera mount designs, so is adaptable to various camera brackets available on Printables.
