I love qwerty's original design, the base plate makes it so versatile but I wanted to use my purchased helping hands in conjunction with these ones. I started redesigning the base plate when I realised that threading could be easier to print so I altered that as well. Upon printing, I had some trouble with the holes through the arms since my printer doesn't seem to like short extrusions when printing PETG and the arms seemed a little floppy. I redesigned the links to make them a bit stiffer and to remove the hole through the middle. Finally, I thought I'd redesign the clamps based on some of the printable clamps I've seen on this sight, though I'm not confident that this is actually an improvement since they are not tighter but they are easier to open.
I don't know how many other people have the same purchased helping-hands but let me know if that base plate is of use to you.
Hope you like it and please consider posting a make when you're finished.
The author remixed this model.
I made the individual links stiffer and made the base easier to print. I also added a spot for existing helping hands to fit on the base and redesigned the clamps.
