This tool can be used to clean and lubricate the lead screws found in the P1 and X1 series printers.
Before cleaning, you should remove the build plate incase grease and residue come into contact with it
To clean the lead screw:
- Home your printer and move the bed all the way down
- Place a piece of folded tissue paper or cloth around the lead screw.
- Push the CLEAN side of the tool to lock it in place with the lead screw
- Make sure that the tissue paper or cloth gets in the grooves of the lead screw and hold the tool down on the heat bed.
- While holding the tool in place, slowly move the bed up
- If this hasn't fully cleaned the lead screw, repeat the step above and move the plate up and down while the tool is in position
To lubricate the lead screw:
- Home your printer and move the bed all the way down
- Add the lubricating grease around the inside of the GREASE side of the tool.
- Initially run the greased tool up and down the lead screw
- Then make sure that the GREASE side is alligned to the lead screw and hold the tool down on the heat bed.
- While holding the tool in place, slowly move the bed up
- Move the bed up and down a few times without the tool to ensure even coating
- Remove excess grease on the bed with a tissue paper
