The Design

I created this dice cube out of curiousity how it would work to design it based on a plastic sheet design, which can be assembled by just folding it togheter with snap-fit connections.

The cube comes with 3 variations at this moment:

Variations

  • dice, 1 to 6 (numbers randomly placed)
  • cube: ‘you’ ‘me’
  • cube: ‘jij’ ‘ik’ (dutch variant)

Material

Material that works best: PETG (PLA seems to be a bit brittle on the flex)

Print settings

I applied the following settings for my print.

  • Layer height: 0.15..0.2
  • Infill: 15% up to 100% (as the wall thickness is relative thin
  • Model orientation: -
  • Perimeters: 2
  • Support:  none
  • Model import: -

Note: Please consider other settings incase you think this helps you or the design in any way.

Acknowledgements

I began my 3D printing journey in 2023 — A deliberate step into a world that blends creativity with engineering. Drawn to the story and philosophy behind Prusa, I chose to start with one of their printers the MK4. As an engineer, I find this manufacturing method both fun and deeply educational. It challenges to think differently about how you (approach) design and builds: from individual parts to assemblies.
