Description

A lid and clip for my Modular Cereal Box Drybox that has the fitting inset so that they can be stacked when not in use. For storage/stacking remove the PTFE tube from the PC4-M6 fitting and use the supplied clip to hold the filament in place.

Previously I had been using 44qt boxes as my main storage and the cereal dryboxes as “EVA space suits” for spools as I took them out for printing, Now this allows for keeping them in the cereal boxes and stacking them when not in use.

Updates

May 14, 2025

  • Added square and rectangular cutouts around thread to help bridging.
  • Tightened up swatch clip slightly.

Jan 23, 2025

  • Added versions that take a PC4-M10 fitting in addition to the original PC4-M6 fitting one.
  • Cleaned up the outer shape to better fit in the top of the cereal box lid.
  • Added a built in clip for mini filament swatches to better keep track of which filament is inside the drybox.

Printing

Print the lid top-down, as its current orientation should already be. Designed for printing with 0.2mm layers. Pick which you want, PC4-M6 or PC4-M10.

Post Printing

Clean up the main supports and then screw in a fitting from the top side (the inset side of things)..

If you do not want to use the mini filament swatch clip then you can leave it covered. Otherwise start with the top edge nearer to the fitting.

Carefully start with freeing any brim/supports at that edge:

Gently pull away from the direction of the fitting to not tear off the clip arms. (Don't worry, if you break one off during cleanup you can use a drop of CA glue at its base to reattach it).

Then carefully continue removing supports until the two arms and two pegs are the only parts left. You can start to free the arms by gently pushing the ends furthest from the fitting slightly away from center, or use a blade on just those ends if you feel sure of yourself.

By pushing the two round knobs of the clips slightly with the edge of a mini swatch you should then be able to seat it down onto the pegs and have the side clips hold it in place.
