Make it easier for your Singer 201 to sew through the thick stuff and control at low speeds.

Or, replace a bad potted motor with a readily available aftermarket motor.

This big wheel is held in place with .25" cube neodymium magnets.

Put a single layer of masking tape between the adapter and the wheel with the adhesive side on the adapter. This smooths out any imperfections and gives the magnets a little better grip.

You will need to move the electrical junction block out of the way.

You don't want the drag from turning the potted motor, so remove the gear from the handwheel.

You'll have to make a belt from round polyurethane. I used 5mm.

I've included several different width motor mount spacers. Hopefully one will work with your motor.  I used the 201 Motor Mount R7 version  and moves the motor back a little less than and inch.  The Spacer 12 moves the motor back  1.2"  and the Spacer 15 moves it 1.5."  I created these in case your motor mount is different. I have not printed or used these, so you are on your own. Let me know if they work with your motor and I'll add the info. There may be clearance issues with the thickest one.

I also included a smaller wheel if you want more speed, or you want to use a treadle.  I made this for someone and have never used it. So, use it at your own risk.
