A Mac Studio is kind of like a little Mac Pro, but without the card slots. Why not make it official?

This model allows you to clad your Mac Studio in a little Mac Pro case. Don't worry about overheating during those pro workflows – the entire bottom air intake and back vents are open, as are the front ports. And are you frustrated with the Color Czar only allowing boring monochromatic colors in pro machines? Print whatever fabulous colors you'd like. (The author recommends purple.)

Print one right and left case, two top/bottom case, two handles, and four feet. (Sorry, no wheels. Contact the author for a $400 upgrade, or feel free to remix.)

Printing and assembly notes:

  • The files were designed with 0.2 mm layer height and no supports in mind (except for the handles, which will need some support). I used 3 perimeters with 20% gyroid infill.
  • The parts will (barely) fit on a 220 x 220 mm bed. You may need to skip the skirt and brim.
  • These parts, especially the left and right case parts, will do their best to warp during printing. I needed some glue stick in the corners of my PEI build surface to keep the parts on the bed.
  • The files contain holes that are ready for tapping and connecting with machine screws. You'll need eight low-profile M4x20mm screws (I used these: https://www.mcmaster.com/93070a107/) and an M4 tap (https://www.mcmaster.com/8305A54/). Depending on your printer's tolerances, you may want to drill out the holes to 3.3 mm / roughly 1/8" before tapping. Tap the holes in the top/bottom case parts and send the screws through the left, right, and front case parts to assemble. You could also glue it together, but that's not recommended if you want to eventually get your Mac Studio back out.
  • The feet and handles go on with super glue. The top and bottom case parts have small indentations to locate the attachment positions.
