Dive into modern electronic warfare with this 1:265 scale model of the EA-18G Growler, the specialized electronic attack variant of the Super Hornet. Built on the robust F/A-18F airframe, the EA-18G is equipped with advanced radar-jamming and signal-disruption technology, designed to suppress enemy radar and communications, providing essential support in contested environments. Like the F/A-18 series, this Growler model features folding wings for carrier storage and twin-engine power, but it stands out for its additional wing-mounted pods for electronic countermeasures and specialized ALQ-218 receivers on its wingtips.
Lesser-known features include its ability to locate and track enemy radar sources with pinpoint accuracy and to employ the AGM-88 HARM missile to neutralize radar threats, adding offensive capability to its electronic warfare role. The EA-18G can also operate as part of an integrated fleet defense system, coordinating with other aircraft to create a protective electronic "shield."
The F/A-18F is my friend's favorite aircraft, so I felt I had to try my hand at it and all the variants!
Included are parts for non-folding wings and/or no landing gear (as some of you have requested that in the past).
To fold the wings, slowly apply pressure to fold the wings up. they will make a small snap sound as you create this hinge, but don't worry! it will not snap unless you fold it downward (I have only tested this with a couple different brands of PLA, I don't know about other filaments).
To insert the vertical tails, rather than inserting the bottom into the slot in the main wing, I have found it easiest to start the top of the vertical tail through the slot from the bottom of the main wing, and use a flat surface to push the tail up through the main wing slot.
Best of luck! I always love to see makes and get feedback on the models!
