3 simple, slim storage case for 2242 and 2280 m.2 SSDs held together by four 5mm x 1.5 mm magnets for storage purposes.
I made 3 sizes, each with a top and a bottom part. The design is available on onshape if you want to remix or just want change the measurements for your printer/magnets. All files are also available as STEP files in a .zip in the “other files” section.
The ones in the pictures were printed in PLA+ with 100% infill on a 0.6 nozzle, but other settings should be fine too.
Notes:
- Not all of the models in the pictures show the latest version uploaded here. As a last minute change I've added a clearing next to the SSDs to get them out more easily.
- If you align the magnets correctly (== the same orientation for every case) the cases could nicely stack and magnetically stick together to some extend. This will depend on your material, infill settings and of course strength of your magnets.
- Goes without saying: if you're magnets won't hold well enough: use a drop of instant glue (aka “Sekundenkleber”) to hold them in place. Use a bit of sanding paper to roughen up the glue-facing side of the magnet.
- You could travel with this case, but I would not recommend it. It's ment to be more of a in-house / desk-drawer-solution.
