A model designed as an award for the 2024 3D Printing Industry Awards contest.
This model is designed to showcase the complexity possible with 3D printing, with the increasing articulation from the outside structures to the internal structures. The geometric shapes are organic in look and feel, suggesting that 3D printing can marry organic structures with industrial design.
It is designed to print in 2 separate pieces; the main model is to be printed out in black on an SLS printer, and the inset is intended to be printed out in a metal Binder Jetting printer and then set on top of the main award as per the image. The base has retaining arms cut out to hold the inset structure.
The bottom has embossed letters and a logo, as depicted in one of the images.
The model is based on industrial geometric shapes. The structural expression implies that industrial design can break out from traditional approaches through the creative and innovative use of 3D printing technologies.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
