Designed for use with the introductory mushroom cultivation method commonly known as “Uncle Ben's technique" (UB Tek) for spawning mushroom mycelium to grain in “ready rice” bags. This print holds 6 ready rice bags. It makes it easy to keep an incubation box organized, and easily check colonization progress without tussling the bags.
Designed to be printed in place with a functional handle. No supports required. The handle can be flipped to allow for easy stacking. Two of the corners are rounded to make for easier storage in a cooler. Print orientation is important, please print with the handle touching the build plate, as seen in the gcode file.
Be sure to spray down with 70% isopropyl alcohol before use. There is a small lip on the bottom of each shelf to keep the bags in place. The bags are positioned so that the corners with injection ports or cuts are less likely to touch the holder. The bags can get twisty, so try to straighten them out before putting them in the holder. I prefer the hole punch with synthetic filter disc stickers instead of cutting the corners and applying micropore tape. YMMV.
I like adding strain and date on the bottom lip so i can see all the info without taking the bags out.
Please post any makes!
UPDATE:
This model doesn't work very well if your cutting the corner off and sealing with micropore tape. The topology of the carrier was optimized for cramming bags into a small space. Unfortunately, this topology will push the corner of the UB bags closed, greatly reducing fresh air exchange from corner cuts. This may cause your UB bags to colonize much slower than they would if the corners cuts were left with a gap. The last image shows the corner squeeze. I recommend the hole punch method with micropore tape or micropore stickers instead of corner cuts.
