I wanted to take a version of my rainbow chasing LED Anjuna logo to Anjunadeep Open Air at Red Rocks (aka the Anjunadeep Blizzard of 2024 ☃). Red Rocks doesn't allow totems, so I couldn't incorporate the electronics & battery into a handle/pole like @SkyeTheriot_1952419 did with their remix.
So instead I decided to scale up the logo by 30% on the X & Y axes so I could fit electronics & a small LiPo cell on the back without them being visible from the front. This was a bit of a rush to get finished before my flight to Colorado, which is why I ended up with the wires entering the logo too far away from where I eventually decided to attach the electronics. But the effect was what I wanted, namely the battery & electronics being completely hidden on the back.
I used a QT Py (SAMD21) with a LiPoly Charger BFF & a 5V/1A MiniBoost, all from Adafruit. The LEDs are a generic WS2812B strip & the code uses the wonderful NeoPixel library, also from Adafruit.
With 56 LEDs running at 50% brightness power consumption is 2.4W & measured runtime on the 900mAh cell is slightly over 1 hour. Connecting a powerbank via USB C extends the runtime essentially infinitely & also recharges the 900mAh cell.
Further improvements would be to make it more waterproof 🙃☔
