Description

PDF

After I upgraded my Prusa MK3S+ to MK3.9, I had a lot of old parts laying around so I decided to do something at least some of them.

UPDATE TO V2

This press uses:

2x Z-axis 320x8mm rods,

4x linear bearings LM8UU,

1x bearing housing 623h from Y-axis,

1x belt from Y-axis,

1x heatbed spacer, (as second pulley on top for a belt)

1x timing pulley T16-2GT, (as bottom pulley for a belt)

14x M3x10 hex key screw

3x M3x18 hex key screw

1x M3x8 hex key screw (mount for rubber / spring)

1x M3 self-locking nut

Parts not from Prusa:

14x heat inserts M3x6 → 6x in V2

1x M6x30 screw (M6x25 will also work but will only hold on plastic with no nut)

1x M6 nut

1x Spring 0.8mm, 60mm, 8mm

(aliexpress link for what I use: https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/1005003298102282.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.46.32ca1c24CAwni9&gatewayAdapt=glo2pol )

OLD VERSION → 1x rubber band

Heat inserts go into:

  • bearing clamp 1of2 - 4x
  • bearing clamp 2of2 - 2x
  • Pole - 8x ← No inserts in V2 pole

I'm open to any sugestions for improveing this design :)

Also, I will update photos when I get to printing new pole, I will propably have a spring to test by then.

UPDATE:

I swapped rubber band for a spring and redid the pole, now it don't need heat inserts.

Also new photos, marked V2

The spring I use gives ~8,5cm of travel whitch is fine for me, feel free to experiment with diffrent springs and show results.

Enjoy
