“In the mist of chaos, there is also opportunity”

- Sun Tzu

In the chaotic world of 3D printing where things can sometimes appear to be random or out of place, we, the makers & designers, have the job to still manage to see through all that impalpable code and coordinates, in order to make something that serves its purpose. In this case, a trophy for one of the communities that i've been most proud of.

I think it looks perfect for a new trophy in 2024, its (in my eyes) the perfect balance between eye-catching, new, simple, and yet focused on its purpose. If i can find or think of a way to upgrade it I will, but something tells me y'all already like it as is.

Yes I know it doesnt have any lattice structures but not only do I think that this organic (almost plant like) form already shows really well the capabilities of 3D printing, I actually think that the lattice structures shouldn't define every years winner. A trophy can be worthy because of it of course, but we should change it up a little, otherwise everyone ill just ditch any ideas that don't have such structures in them. Sometimes, a more defined form is the answer, and I think I got it.

Process:

This was made with a mix of Rhino3d and Fusion360, rendered in the later (my first render in that program!). First the overall idea, form and orientation of all the geometric shapes where modelled in Rhinoceros3D, then I moved the file to Fusion360 where I made all the final touches like fillets and chamfers (because if i did them in Rhino3d they would not appear in Fusion lmao) and lastly the automated modelling, where i connected the faces of each part to the base of the trophy, giving this explosive and organic kind of look that I've begun to fall in love with in my designs lately (not posted on my profile bc they are mostly just escooter repair jobs).

Tree support will (in my sleep deprived opinion) help the print in more budget friendly printers like my Ender 3 neo on PLA filament. Printing it on its side will probably help too, but it could be a printer to printer situation, soo i made both options available.

If you enjoyed my design, thank you! (maybe download it and give it a like ;) It really means a lot to me as I've just finished a bach. in Industrial Design, *if* this design does win the contest, it would surelly be the proudest addition to my portfolio.
