This phaser is not screen accurate by any means, it was designed by aerospace engineer Franz Joseph and is brought to life in 3d here throuh painstakingly using cad to make the blueprints in his book “Starfleet technical manual” into reality.  His book holds a special place in star trek history regardless because it was the first technical manual ever published, and paved the way for the star trek encyclopedia and other such publications.

The bottom cover is designed to come off and the inside is hollowed out for electronics.  You will need a 5mm blue LED for the indicator light.  I havent made the trigger functional yet, but the emitter is bored out for an LED or laser diode of your choice.  You will also need one m 2.5x6 phillips pan head screw to hold the bottom cover on.

The indicator is left blank.  I recommend printing out a strip of paper with some lines and numbers as shown in the technical manual, or just scaling the page from the technical manual to fit and gluing it on.  Glue some clear plastic to the underside of the bezel before assembly.  Indicator may be lit from teh front are rear ends from underneath to add some realism  use ultra bright white leds for this.

The wheel is attached with an m2.5x6 socket head screw using an allan key.  it must be installed before the LED goes in

I don't know how to set it up for a threaded heat set insert yet.  Make sure to run a m2.5 tap in the hole for the screw in the main body.  For some reason it didn't come out as a threaded hole when exported from fusion.

Trigger is intended to be put in from behind so that at some point in the future, a PCB with a microswitch may be put behind it along with some springs to make it functional

Anyone who wishes to remix this and add functionality may do so using the enclosed fusion cad project

The  starfleet technical manual is available online here

There is a type II in the cad file.  I'm using this page to start a hardware list for it while its under development.
