Idea

To have a way to show how changing a setting might influence the final part.

  • Wall thickness
  • Infill types
  • Infill percentage
  • Layer height
  • Material types
  • etc

Implementation

I've used materials easily available locally, without applying any specific tools. Display models are 30mm cubes, with numbers of a different color imprinted on the bottom, to easily distinguish one from the other. Multimaterial setup might make the process easier, but is not required - I made everything without one.

I also experimented with using 150% scale Cali cat (https://www.printables.com/model/530652-cali-cat-the-calibration-cat), and attached the mount for it.

Assembly

Tubes need to be threaded using M4 thread tool. Given the aluminum is soft, only finishing tool could be used. 5mm of thread on each side will suffice.

To drill the A3 sized acrylic sheet drilling jig can be used. Regular is A4 sized, for smaller beds half of a jig will work. .dxf files for laser cutting are attached as well, however I haven't tested them.

2m of 6mm OD, 1.5mm wall thickness tube is sufficient for one stand.
