This is a replacement knob – not the complete knob assembly (see assembly diagram) – for the Fluke 79/29 Series II (2) multimeter sold in the early-mid 1990s. Fluke reference designator MP23. Part number 885843 (896129 for the 29).

Print with the top facing up with 100% infill and supports on base plate only. Pictured print was made with .20mm layers, 0.40mm nozzle, and PLA.

After printing, separate the supports from the knob by running something thin, like a razor blade, between the bottom of the knob and the top of the supports. Work your way around the perimeter of the knob once to do an initial detach of the supports. Continue working your way around the knob while gently prying supports further from the knob base until the supports release.

To disassemble an existing knob assembly, remove the knob assembly from the top cover of the multimeter, then cut the two plastic protrusions (see pictures) using flush cut wire cutters or a razor blade.  Once removed, the full assembly can be separated into its component parts.

Reassemble with the new knob as pictured. When fully reassembled, there will be two cylindrical protrusions sticking out of the bottom of the shaft knob. Melt and flatten these with a flat-tipped soldering iron (or similar) as shown to complete reassembly.
