Ghost clip

Objective
With a partner, you will recreate your ghost clip using SolidWorks.  You and your partner MUST have identical files that you create by collaborating on each step, one at a time.

SETPS

1. Outlines
2. Create a construction box 13x6cm centered on the origin
3. Spikes on top
   1. Make 5 1 cm horizontal construction lines from the right side of the line from step a using equal relations.
   2. On the top left side of the construction box. Create a diagonal line 0.5 cm length up and to the left.
   3. Make a horizontal construction line for the full width of the construction box stepped 1 cm from the top of the construction box.
   4. Make 6 1 cm horizontal lines across a construction line form part step 2c.
4. Circles on bottom
   1. Make 3 horizontal construction lines 2 cm each stepped 1 cm from the bottom of a construction box.
   2. Make 3 3-point arcs between each line from step a pointed to the bottom.
   3. Make an arc radius 1 cm.
5. BIG BOX
   1. Make two vertical lines 11 cm each between bottom edges of “Spikes on top” and top edges from “Circles on bottom”.
6. Eyes
   1. Make a vertical construction line for the full width of the construction box stepped 1 cm from the left side of the construction box.
   2. Make a horizontal construction line for the full width of the construction box stepped 2.2 cm from the left side of the construction box.
   3. Make a construction square 0.5 cm from the crossing on construction lines form steps 5a and 5b pointing down right.
   4. Create a Perimeter circle on the top right edge of the construction square from steps 5a and 5b pointed to the button right. Circle diameter must be 1.1 cm.
   5. Mirror circle from step 5c with a construction line.
7. Mouth
   1. Make a horizontal construction line stepped 2cm from the bottom part of the construction box.
   2. Make a vertical line stepped 1.2 cm from the right side of a construction box.
   3. Mirror construction line from step 6a about vertical center line.
   4. Make an arc between lines from steps 6a and 6b.
   5. Apply tangent relation to arc from step 6d and construction line from step 6a.
   6. Make an offset of lines and arc from steps 6b, 6c, 6d. Offset should have cap arcs on ends with 0.5cm offset.

Design Choices

Using a ruler, we measured the ghost bookmark and created a sketch on paper using these measurements. Using this sketch, we created a step-by-step plan about how we will make it in SolidWorks. Once we started recreating our sketch in SolidWorks we encountered dimension related issues. We needed to change how eyes and mouth are done.

Changes:

1. Changed centerlines to vertical and horizontal.
2. Changed mouth construction from mirroring half of mouth to mirroring one line and outlining with end caps of mirrored lines.
3. Changed eye construction from setting distance between eyes to mirroring them around horizontal centerline.
