The arms on the end of the IKEA NORSBORG are simply slots cut into OSB (Oriented strand board) which can break with people leaning too hard against the arm, or wear over time. This replacement part is screwed into the remaining wood of the couch, and gives an OEM-like experience in terms of fit and finish, after reinstalling the arm.

Instructions for printing

Highly recommended that you print in PETG due to the high tensile strength. 5 walls, 5 top and bottom layers, and 50% infill.

Instructions for use

  1. Clean out/break off the blown-out OSB wood parts of the couch
  2. Align the printed part with the slot and mark the holes with a pen (optional)
  3. Drill a pilot hole for each hole of the printed part (optional)
  4. Using self-tapping countersunk screws, screw in the top-left corner and the bottom right corner first.
  5. Ensure the part is aligned correctly, then screw in all others in any order.

Note: Be careful not to drive the screws in too hard. If using a drill driver or impact driver, only screw them in partly then finish by hand. If anything is over-tightened to the point of deforming the part, back these screws off in these areas until the part is flat.
