GT2 Belt Gearbox for Landy/Rancher/Bamboo 3DSets models.

Use it with my Metal transmission, gears and axles mod

This gearbox has a ratio of 4:1. Paired with the AR44 33/8T gears, it is the same overall ratio as original 3DSets model.

You will have a complete metal transmission, from motor to wheels.

BOM :

Assembly :

Before all, don't forget, like me, to put this 2 nuts in box_middle  first, or you will struggle to insert them after. You will have to disassemble almost all the gearbox to put two nuts :D

Middle assembly :

Place bearing in box_middle

Attach box_middle to box_front_a with 3X M3x16 screws (Use button head screws) and M3 nuts. Place 5x11x4 bearing in box_front_a

Please note that box_front_a has an integrated support. Don't forget to remove it.

Attach the box_rear_a to the box_middle with 2X M3x8 screws and M3 nuts, and one M2x12 screw and nut (on top)

Cut M5 rod to 107mm and attach a 20T pulley to one end, with 2-2.5mm margin.

Place this on rear end with a thin M5 washer

On the other end, place another thin M5 washer and a 40T pulley and secure it with a screw driver via the hole on the bottom of box_front_a. The M5 rod should be more or less flush to pulley.

Prepare the output rod:

Print and use the tool provided to cut a M5 50mm rod. You can follow the video of Black Crow who invent this method. This is very well explained.

Use the tool to flatten the rod in the notchs with a file.

Rotate the rod 180° and use the hole to drill with a 2.5-2.8mm driller.

Use sandpaper to smooth the rod. Check it can enter the 5x11x4 bearings.

Install a 40T pulley centered on the 50mm rod.

Rear Assembly:

Install the pulley with the belt on box_rear_a, a M5 washer on the rod and place a 5x11x4 bearing in the box_rear_output_front.

Place the box_rear_output_front on the rod.

Do the exact same thing on box_rear_b. Bearings, washer on output rod and place it. You don't have to put a washer on top rod as it is constrained by pulleys.

Secure box_rear_b, box_rear_a and box_rear_output_front together with 2X M3x25 screws and nuts. Use 2X M3x16 screws on upper side. (Screw head doesn't matter, i have different head on pictures because i used what i have in stock)

Use 2x M2x12 screw to secure box_rear_output_front and box_middle together.

Front Assembly:

Install motor on motor_mount with 4x M3x8 screws. Attach motor_mount on box_front_b with 4x M3x16 screws

Place 20T pulley flush on motor shaft and tighten it

Install the 16x28x7 bearing on box_front_a and secure it with 2x M3x6 button head screws.

Put the belt like this around the 40T pulley

And insert the motor assembly upside down (to see what you are doing, and properly align belt in pulley). 20T pulley should fit nicely in 16x28x7 bearing

Rotate the motor assembly to align screw holes, and secure it with 2x M3x16 + nuts at bottom, and 2x M3x20 top.

If properly assembled, the motor should rotate freely with no resistance.

Install in your car with the Metal transmission, gears and axles mod following the 3DSets manual and enjoy.
