Animated Christmas Crab light. The Silhouette I used is attached but generated from a silhouette and fed through https://rasterbator.net to desired size. Print out, trace onto 3mm MDF, paint in a metallic paint (aluminium used here). The bushings for the claw holders are 5mm Aluminium tube from the hobby store. Might need a drop of glue to hold in place. The axels used are 3/16" threaded bar which fits perfectly in the Al tube.
Geared Motor used was from https://www.jaycar.com.au/70rpm-12vdc-reversible-gearhead-motor/p/YG2732 No doubt cheaper alternatives exist.
You need to drill a hole in the motor attachment and one of the claws and bend some piano wire up as a push rod. I was making this up on the fly so didn't really plan the hole placement...just a bit of trial and error.
The pole holder fits 10mm Al tube and bolts on with M3 bolts and nuts. Crush one end of the tube in vice or with pliers and push a metal/wooded rod into the ground. (I used 6mm OD galvanised rod to hold the crab in position which is the cheapest I could find)
Hot glue some cheap solar lights around outside. May need to solder extensions on the lights to allow the claws to move freely, see video/photos what I did
