A design for the kusarigama training weapon from Isshin-ryu used in the Shinto muso ryu curriculum.
Not yet printed nor tested.
For your information: it is meant to be made out of japanese oak wood. with some parts in steel (the guard for instance).
The reason is simple. the guard is also used to allow different grip techniques, attacks or defenses.
So I cannot guarantee that you can train with a sparing partner with it: it may break. And injury can happen.
Maybe with a reinforced carbon fiber plastic or a metal composite object obtain by SLS. At the moment I cannot tell if the size is correct the grip part must be exactly 39 cm high.
Other point: you need to attach a 3-5 mm diameter string to the low end at the other end of the string you need a weight (the string size is about 3.5 meters).
The weight is a fabric folded with in it some dried seeds (rice or pumpkin) in a shape of a small child fist sized ball.
otherwise it is only a sickle and not this strange japanese medieval weapon that is the sickle and chain compound.
