Description:
When I published my popular Smartphone Tripod Adapter last year, I already had in mind the idea of designing a complete but compact smartphone tripod for my trouser pocket. I finally put this project into action.

However, I took an unusual approach…
The common folding solutions usually prove to be wobbly when used and unwieldy when folded. That's why I developed this plug-in system. The tripod legs are stored in the smartphone holder to save space and plugged in when in use. A locking mechanism keeps the legs securely anchored.

In fact, this tripod is quicker to set up than most folding solutions, and it is significantly more robust and stable.
Another advantage of the plug-in system: when not in use, the tripod is incomparably small. I also designed a case for easy storage. This is only 120x36x25mm in size and fits comfortably in any trouser pocket.

Assembly Instructions:
Before using the tripod, the assembly of one or two rubber bands is required. Using two rubber bands instead of a single one can increase safety. The leg holder is screwed to the tripod clamp. Please do not tighten the screw excessively to avoid damaging the printed thread.

How to use:
To use the tripod, the tripod legs are pushed into the holder. They lock into place with an audible click. It can be a little stiff at first, but that eases over time. When the tripod is not in use, the legs are removed from the holder and locked side by side in the smartphone clamp. The tripod can then be pushed into the container (bottom first).

How to print:
Please configure …

  • a line width of 0.4mm,
  • a layer height of 0.16mm, 
  • 3 perimeters,  
  • 5 bottom solid layers,
  • 7 top solid layers.

… and print slowly. Don't change the orientation of the parts. For best results, “paint” the z-seam as shown in the last 2 images.
