I made this model from scratch taking a lot of inspiration from the original. I wanted to print as many parts as possible myself to avoid hassle with metal rods, screws, etc. I needed small form factor as I have limited space available. I wanted the box to be well sealed for long MMU prints. I didn't want any gaps between the boxes on the wall. I also wanted the box to be in Prusa design style.

You will need four 625 bearings for the box. 625 type means:

  • Inner diameter 5mm
  • Outer diameter 16mm
  • 5mm thick

You have several options:

  1. Buy 625 bearings externally. I recommend models with extended race for low friction.
  2. Buy on Prusa eShop. I found them however to have somewhat higher friction then expected.
  3. Download model and print them. There are many 625 bearing models here on Printables. This however is last resort due to high friction and limited lifetime.

General comments:

  • Use PETG or PLA
  • No special print settings required with exception of Shaft
  • No supports required
  • Print the Seal from Flex 40D or softer material
  • Depending on the filament used adjust screws size +/- 2% in the slicer if they are too loose or tight
  • Use random seam position for Shafts to avoid spool bumping.
  • Tougher material for Shafts is recommended. I used PCCF.
  • Use standard 9310 thermometer with humidity sensor
  • Drill templates are stackable for marking drill holes position for multiple boxes at once. Print from the same material as Bottom part to avoid size difference.
  • Assembly Bottom and Lid with screws before mounting on the wall. Press bearings onto shaft before plugging into the holders inside the box. Plug Buckle onto already mounted Buckle shaft screw.
  • Tightening Joint screws too much will cause Lid deformation.

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • straight sides for gap free mounting of multiple boxes
  • seal between bottom and lid
  • 100% printable (except for the thermometer)
  • drill template
